Rule of Five
FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS
The Rule of Five are the five foundational skills for wilderness living and survival.
The Rule of Five helps those who seek an adventure in the outdoors and anyone wanting to find a deeper connection to the way our ancestors lived before modern conveniences were available. These basic foundational wilderness skills and the way we teach them separate us from our competition by connecting the dots between our modern lifestyles and the knowledge our ancestors used to survive in the wild.
Rule of Five Wilderness Company teaches you the Rule of Five, giving you the confidence and self-reliance that you need to survive in the wild.
1. SHELTER
2. FIRE
3. EDGE
4. VESSEL
5. CORDAGE
1. SHELTER
You learn how and where to build shelter and how to protect your body from extreme weather and temperature changes.
2. FIRE
Starting a fire is the most vital skill we teach. We teach you basic fire safety, several ways to start a fire, how to keep it going and how to extinguish it safely.
3. EDGE
Sharp tools will feed and protect you in the wild. You learn how to wield a sharp tool safely and how to make one out of what you have on hand.
4. VESSEL
Want to contain liquid, food or just carry all your things? Well, you’ll need something to hold them. We teach you how to craft the equipment you need to solve these problems in the wild.
5. CORDAGE
We also call this binding. This is another essential to creating a more comfortable living situation in the wild. You learn to create binding from a variety of materials, which allows you to make woven carriers, secure camp shelters and much more.
